I’m Joseph Boam, County Councillor for Whitwick, representing local people with common sense and a determination to get things done at County Hall.
My family roots in Whitwick go back over 170 years. My ancestors settled in the area in 1851, with my 3rd great grandfather Joseph Boam lodging with a family friend to work at the nearby colliery and since then generations of the Boam family have lived and worked across Whitwick & North West Leicestershire helping to shape the community we still call home today.
🧰 Family, Work and Local Business
I help run Russell’s Garden Buildings Ltd alongside my dad, who started the company in 1989 when he was just 18. We specialise in handcrafted sheds, serving customers right across Leicestershire and beyond. I joined the business part time in 2021, aged 19.
Alongside that, we’ve also revived our historic family business: G. Boam & Sons Pure Ices.

The company was first founded by my great great grandfather, Gideon Boam in the early 1920s, after he was injured down the mines. Working with his sons, Joseph Edward Boam and Walter Boam, he built a local ice cream brand that became a familiar sight across Whitwick.
Last year, my dad and I decided to bring it back. We bought a 1960s Citroën HY van, reinvented the original recipe, and are planning a full relaunch of G Boam & Sons Pure Ices next summer, a proud nod to our family’s legacy and local tradition.

💬 My Values
I believe in Reform values, honesty, accountability, and above all, common sense.
Protecting free speech,
Recognising that there are only two genders,
Defending our borders and national identity,
Putting community and people before politics,
Making government serve the public, not the other way round,
And most importantly, Family Country & Community.

I’m not afraid to speak my mind, and I’ll always stand up for what I believe is right, even when it’s not fashionable to do so.
🎯 My Goals
My goal is simple, to serve the people of Whitwick and North West Leicestershire and the wider spectrum of Leicestershire with integrity, hard work, and common sense, making sure your money is spent wisely, and that local decisions actually benefit the community.
I’ll always fight for value for taxpayers, stronger local services, and a council that listens.
